Abstract
We used FLOW-3D® to simulate how a droplet drops on a flat surface and a liquid layer. In our life, we can see many examples. There are also many researches for experiments, but few for simulation. We hope we can simulate some physical properties that we are not able to see in experiment. We will know simulations are suitable or not and find the way to solve it.
After simulations, we found some errors in simulations with low momentum. But they have the same trend, such as the deposition on flat surface and the hole in a liquid layer. But we cannot simulate splashes and crowns after a drop impact. We have to input the momentum much huger than usual to see splashes and crowns. So we think it is not suitable for FLOW-3D® to simulate high momentum cases before revise it. However, we can see the velocity and the pressure in simulations, and calculate the situations between the results in experiments.
