Abstract
In this correspondence, on the basis of Möbius function, a two-stage algorithm for the discrete cosine transform (DCT) and the IDCT is proposed. In this approach, the DCT matrix is factorized into the preprocessing and postprocessing matrices. The preprocessing matrix has elements of values 1 and -1, and the postprocessing matrix is a circular convolution/correlation matrix. © 1992 IEEE.
