Abstract
This thesis deals with Yu Ji’s literary works. First, we will look at the life history of Yu Ji. Then, we will analyze Yu Yi’s literary works. Finally, we will synthesize scholarly research on Yu Ji.
Yu Ji had a illustrious background and perfect education and devoted himself to combining academic studies and artistic creation. Academically, he was a Confucian, so for him, the goal of study is to serve people and be a sage. There are two themes at least in his artistic creation. One is the emotion associated with tracing his ancestry and missing the hometown. The other is the emotion felt while being an official or withdrawing from society. His southern identity effected his emotional accumulation and variation.
The achievement of the thesis is to strengthen the research of Yu Ji in the classical Chinese literature.
