Abstract
This research regards the Taiwanese popular songs during the Japanese-ruled period. The first section focus on the development of the music industry , and how the field of Taiwanese popular songs be established. Integrates and corrects the fragmentary and much confusion historical data of the music industry and pop music.
The second section preliminary analyze the extant lyrics, music scores and sound recordings. Understand the development of the phonograph recording industry and the popular songs, furthermore interprets the appearance and the characteristics of the Taiwanese Pop music-including the songwriters, singers, and musical styles of the popular music industry during 1930s.
Besides, comprehensive analyze the composing ideas of important songwriters. Refer to the commentary of social observers and the records review mechanism of Taiwan Governor-General. Through the contents of popular songs and the interactions with its audiences, we can go a step further to confer the social concepts and general feel. Particularly discuss the way of looking at the modern times, urban living ,freedom to love , social indentification and the role in the East Asian war.
