Abstract
This paper presents a 50GHz wide operation range frequency divider implemented in 0.18μm CMOS technology. The frequency divider adopted direct-injection-locked topology which features high speed capability. The body-sourceconnected NMOS switch transistor is coupled to the LC-tank to improve the locking range of the frequency divider. The wide frequency range from 41.5 GHz to 52 GHz is divided into four operating bands and the resonant frequency of the LC tanks is controlled by two digital bits. Powered by 1V supply, the frequency divider consumes 8mW with 10.5GHz operation range. The core size of the frequency divider is 200 μm x 320μm.
