Abstract
This thesis is a research on storytelling theatre, as the case study of the public and private children’s library storytelling activities in northern Taiwan. The main purpose is to understand that the present situations of children’s library storytelling activities and storytelling troupes implement, promote the possible attitude that storytelling theatre in order to probe into the children’s library, the storytelling activities can be initiative and expansionary.
This research adopts semi-structured depth interview and unstructured participant observation to collect both the opinions of the storytelling activities and storytellers. It queries the activities implement, audiences, storytellers, storytelling methods and techniques, and interactive situations of Taipei Public Library, Library of Cultural Affairs Bureau Yilan County, the Organization of Hsin-Yi Little Kangaroo Storytelling Troupe. It concludes as follows:
1.The meaning, function and attribute of storytelling theatre.
2.The implementation present situations of children’s library storytelling activities and storytelling troupes in northern Taiwan.
3.Similarities and differences of the storytelling activities and storytelling theatre.
4.Possible attitude of storytelling theatre that the children’s library promotes.
5.Difficulties and programs of children’s library implementing.
As a result, in this thesis, the author has offered suggestions for children’s library, storyteller, and follow-up researchers to consult.
