Abstract
The linear μ(O,O′) bonding mode of CO2 has been found for the first time in the magnesium–aluminum compounds [{R2Al(μ-NSiMe3)(μ-OSiMe3)Mg(thf)2(μ-O2C)}3] (1 (R=Me) and 2 (R=Et); THF ligands omitted), which were obtained by bubbling CO2 through a mixture of AlR3 and Mg[N(SiMe3)2]2 in THF.
