Abstract
The main purpose of this thesis is to investigate the self-balancing battery management system and wake-up technology to improve the performance of stand-alone solar PV system.
Both active and passive battery management system design will use some of the components such as transistors (MOSFET), resistors, capacitors and inductance to store the lithium energy and to transfer to the other in order to achieve battery balance, but the process will generate heat causing energy loss, or because the design complexity makes the circuit expensive.
Self-balancing battery management system design is to use the simple components to reach the advantage of both active and passive battery management system-low cost and low energy loss. It can also reach the function of battery balance.
For some solar PV system, when the lithium battery reach low-voltage protection will shut down the solar controller. This study design a wake-up circuit. When the sun appears, solar system can be restarted by the wake-up circuit.
