Abstract
The air-blower development is closely bound up with industrial scientific and technological progress, and applies to every department of national economy extensively, included the system of the fuel cell. The special-purpose air-blower, except offering air to the cathode in the stack, and it is also a main component which efficiency is a critical factor in maximizing the overall efficiency of the fuel cell system. To design the air-blower needs to understand its operating environment and requirement, so that we can get better design size and result. his research directs against the requirement for the system of the fuel cell, look for the air-blower products of the foreign manufacturer as the improving prototype. Besides consulting relevant empirical formulae, also use CFD software to observe the inner flow, as the improving bases and strategies to improve the problem found in inner flow region, for example increase the impeller highly, change the impeller side board to design etc., and employs these relevant knowledge to improve the parameter of the manufacturer product systematized, in order to fit 5kW fuel cell system''s requirement. nder the flow 0.5CMM, the product of manufacturer provides 8,300Pa in static pressure, 70% in efficiency. After designing and improving, it provides 11,443Pa in static pressure, 82.5% in efficiency. This study verifies that employing the knowledge, observing the phenomenon in the flow to propose improving method, have essence utility and can be actually applied to the improvement of the high performance, high rotational speed air-blower.
