Abstract
The thesis proposes a design of fourth generation brushless DC motor and a research of optimal driving current wave of the motor.
First, torque equation of motor can be constructed by energy method. Second, we expand the current and back EMF waveform by Fourier series. And then, the analysis shows that if we want the motor having the maximum torque, the current and the back EMF waveform should be proportional.
On the other hand, we establish two kinds of models. One is the motor magnetic model by MATLAB and the other is 3D-FE (finite element ) model by Ansoft. The simulation results will proof the basic theory. In 3D-FE model, we decompose the back EMF waveform into different order partial sums to analyze the relationship of torque and torque ripple. And then, we can find the optimal driving way.
Finally, we take square wave, sine wave, optimal wave by motor magnetic model, and optimal wave by 3D-FE model as current waveform to test the motor’s performances and compare the performances with the 3rd generation motor
