The purpose of this study was to discuss why implementing the ecological survey in tidal rivers, hydraulic characteristics, such as the measurements of velocity, cross sections etc, should be investigated at the same time as well. By integrating the characteristics obtained, the principle of choosing representative survey sites could thus be established as a reference for environment management.
