Abstract
This thesis presents an advanced cloud platform for locating faults in 161kV transmission networks. This platform is composed by four parts: cloud database, cloud server, data input end, mobile device end. The cloud database store 161kV transmission line data, the coordinate of tower and manhole, the record of fault event, user data and so on. The server mainly compute the fault location and the core fault location algorithms behind this platform are based on solid theoretical foundations developed by NTUEE power Labs. The data input end provides the users to input the positions of the substation, upload the voltage and current waveforms, input the sampling rate of relay, push the fault location infos to the maintenance staff. The mobile end receives the fault location infos and displays them on Google Maps. This platform has several striking features: high accuracy, visualization with Google Maps, web access, user friendly interface, mobile displaying etc. The performance evaluation of this platform is conducted in Taipower 161kV transmission network. No matter simulated cases or realistic cases show the proposed platform is an enabling technology for transmission network fault location application.
