Abstract
Electronic products, almost with optical system, are tended to be downscale in current market. For this reason, it is important to shrink the dimension of optical system. By using reflective optics, we cannot only reduce the dimension but also decrease the effect of aberrations. Besides, we need high bright backlight source to construct the Head-up display (HUD) optical system. And we apply light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as the light source. The LEDs are very popular light sources currently because of their numerous advantages such as high efficiency, long life time, wide color gamut and cheap production costs [1].
Head-up display is the subject in this thesis, and we subdivide it into image system and backlight source. This system combines the refractive and reflective optics together. The first part is an adaptive head-up display (HUD) for automobile with functions of HUD system and instrument panel in only one source. The second part is a backlight source, less than 10mm in thickness, that makes the image of HUD brighter and clear.
