Abstract
The constant dist runout experienced by the removable recording media becomes more serious as the track density grows higher. To achieve good recording quality, it becomes more and more important for the servo system to treat the disk runout. In this thesis, the adaptive feed-forward cancellation (AFC) of the disk runout is discussed. The General Purpose Optical Disk Evaluation Kit (GPODEK) is used for the implementation. The AFC is installed in the Digital Signal Processor (DSP) module in the GPODEK. The AFC injects an additional signal to the servo controller to suppress the disk runout. The thesis performed both MATLAB simulations and experiments. The results show that the proposed algorithm is effective and is easy to implement.
