Abstract
Using factorial cokriging methods analyze the soil heavy metal concentration, by filtering spatial
variation on different scales in order to increase the cumulative percent of variance. In the north
of Changhua County, the variograms and cross-variograms can be modeled in three spatial
structures including nugget effect and two spherical structures with ranges of 160 and 2400m for
short-range and long-range spatial scales. In Chung Fu area of Taoyuan County, the variograms
and cross-variograms can be modeled in two spatial structures including two spherical structures
with ranges of 70 and 560m for short-range and long-range spatial scales. Using factor analysis
method on coregionalization matrices may interpret possible causes of soil heavy metal pollution
on different spatial scales. Each cumulative percent of variance of the first two factors on
different spatial scales is higher than those ignoring spatial scale.
