Abstract
A study was carried out to investigate the feasibility of using a packed-bed electrochemical reactor with stainless steel fiber as electrodes to decompose cyanide containing effluent. We found that it is possible to reduce the cyanide content from 1400 mg l-1 to below 20 mg 1-1 within 4-20 h at a 5-13 kw h kg-1 CN energy consumption. A design equation was also formulated to predict the decomposition rate for a given reactor under a given current. © 1990.
