Abstract
The anticompetition of laser modes was discussed. It was found that using the semiconductor laser with very broadband gain medium, anticompetition existed when the laser mode exhibited their wavelengths widely separated. The analysis showed that the anticompetition was due to the physics similar to optical pumping.
