Abstract
Based on the characteristics of random
fractal and Gauss-Markov process, a
dimensionless model for design storm
hyetographs is proposed herein. Annual
maximum events for longer design storm
were collected and then converted into
dimensionless form with respect to their
event durations and total depths. Using the
Lagrange technique and conditional joint
probability density function, the rainfall
process can be modeled as a nonstationary
first-order Gauss-Markov process . Then
one can obtain the hyetograph that is most
likely to occur and preserves the statistical
characteristics of the peak rainfall rate.
