Abstract
Spherical virus is known to resonate in the confined-acoustic dipolar mode with electromagnetic (EM) wave of the same frequency. A previous study showed that this structure-resonant energy transfer effect from EM wave to virus can be efficient enough so that airborne virus was inactivated with reasonable microwave power density safe for the open public. In this study, we explore the structure resonance effect with EM wave in rod-like virus. We have developed a capsule model, which agrees well with our measured EM wave absorption spectra in white spot syndrome virus.
