Abstract
This work is to synthesize complex copolymer of poly (butylacrylate- methyl methacrylate)/polyaniline. By using the method of two-step emulsion polymerization with P(BA-MMA) as core and PANI as shell.
First step was to prepare P(BA-MMA) core latex particles from soapless emulsion polymerization. The degree of crosslinking in polymers was controlled by the conc. of crosslinking agent.
Second step was to prepare the core-shell latex particles, Poly(BA-MMA)/PANI. The surfactant, SDS was fed into the core emulsion, following by feeding of aniline monomer. A bilayer structure of surfactant over the surface was desired in order that aniline monomer could be attracted to near the outer surface of the core particles. Thus core-shell latex particles were obtained.
The morphologies of both Poly(BA-MMA) core particles and Poly(BA-MMA)/PANI core-shell particles were observed by TEM. The thermal particles of the latex polymers were measured. In addition, a conductive film made from the core-shell latex polymers was prepared. The light transmittance and electrical conductivity of the conductive films with different thickness were study.
