Abstract
The applications of disseminating
multimedia content through Internet
have been not only the most pervasive
but also grown popular in the recently
years. However, due to growing
popularity of multimedia applications
such as digital videos and games, users
demand more access frequency and
higher service quality in mobile
application. As a result, the current
bandwidth is becoming inadequate to
fulfill the demand, partly due to not only
insufficient bandwidth but also the
inefficient using bandwidth. This project
aims to develop techniques of
multimedia sharing network with the
most extensible based on service
platform for disseminating digital video
content in the broadband network
environment. In addition, we develop
three necessary key techniques “A
QoS-Aware Transcoding Proxy using
On-Demand Broadcasting”, “Multicast
Delivery Mechanism for Multimedia
Sharing Network” and “Hybrid
Broadband Access Networks with
ADSL and WLAN” for service platform
of disseminating multimedia content.
This group project relies on the
following three projects to cover all
these performance-defining factors, in
order to gain preliminary but
comprehensive insights into the design
of service platform for Sharing
Multimedia Documents.
Subproject 1:A QoS-Aware
Transcoding Proxy using
On-Demand Broadcasting
Subproject 2: Multicast Delivery Mechanism for
Multimedia Sharing

Subproject 3: Hybrid Broadband Access
Networks with ADSL and
WLAN
This is the first year of the group project,
and this report summarizes the research
outcomes of each subproject in this year.
