Abstract
The objective of this study is to
examine the relationship between
antioxidant enzyme activity and
developmental instability in fig (Ficus
microcarpa) and air pollution. Figs living
around the Bei-Tou incination plants were
sampled from different locations in the
January of 2005. Then, peroxidase
activity, superoxide dismutase activity and
developmental instability were measured
and compared among those fig leaves
collected from different sampling sites.
The results of this study showed no
significant difference in antioxidant
enzyme activities or fluctuating asymmetry
index among fig leaves collected from
different sites with different distances from
the incineration plant or with different
direction from the incineration plant.
