Abstract
Abstracthis research is a cooperative project between the National Center of Research Earthquake Engineering and University of Houston, Texas.A two floor 3D-specimen with asymmetric walls was tested to study the eccentric torsion effects by stiffness irregularity. The purpose of the project is to research the complex behavior of reinforced concrete buildings subjected to multi-directional earthquake loadings and the subsequent interactions resulting from the nonlinear response of individual structural components .In the set up,the lateral loading was transferred through the specimen floors in order to simulate more accurate structural behavior. The measureed data of this experiment can be used to verify the nonlinear analyses.he experimental results show that the stiffness irregularity became more pronounced after column yielding. At the final stage of experiment, the nonlinear behavior of structure had been fully reached. It is also observed that in addition to in plane shear force and flexure moment, torsion effects becomes more apparent for the shear walls.
