Abstract
Surface potential is a crucial characteristic of solid-liquid interfaces that can be influenced by external factors such as applied voltage or inherent surface properties. It serves as a reliable indicator for modifications at the surface, including biomolecular bindings. To enhance surface-potential difference monitoring, our team has introduced an innovative architecture of metal-oxide-metal microwells array. The unique design allows for the precise determination of surface-potential difference variance through the electrical double layer capacitance (EDLC) in the side wall of insulator. By utilizing the cyclic voltammetry method, we have established a clear correlation between surface potential and EDLC, and demonstrated the efficacy of chemical modifications in altering surface properties. Additionally, our novel device is capable of measuring Avidin, showcasing the versatility and potential of the metal-oxide-metal (MIM) microwells array.
