Abstract
This year, 2004, “The Fifth National University Student Contest of
Creativity-in-Action and Asian Renowned Universities Creativity Invitation Contest” is
hosted by the College of Engineering of National Taiwan University. The registration of
the part of national completion started on November 1st, 2003, and a total of 170 teams
are enrolled. On January 15th, 2004, in the primary contest, 50 teams are selected to enter
the final contest, which is held on May 15th, 2004, at the NTU new coliseum. As to the
part of Asian renowned universities creativity invitation contest, three outstanding
universities: Japan Nagoya University, Singapore University, and Korea Advanced
Institute of Science and Technology, are invited to the final contest to compete with the
national first prize and second prize teams.
The final results of the Fifth National University Student Contest of
Creativity-in-Action are as followed. The first prize goes to ｢Happy Bike Design｣ by
[TATUNG BOY] of Da-Tong University, and there are two second prizes: ｢Family ATM｣
by ｢Peak of the Top｣of Chung Shan Medical University, and ｢ENVIRONMENTAL
PROTECTION SINK CABINET｣ by ｢ST. JOHN'S MECHANIAN｣ of St. John's & St.
Mary's Institute of Technology. Three third prizes go to: St. John's & St. Mary's Institute of
Technology, Kun Shan University of Technology, and Southern Taiwan University of
Technology. As to the special prize, the award of humanity care is given to Southern
Taiwan University of Technology, the award of technology integration is given to St.
John's & St. Mary's Institute of Technology, the award of creativity thinking is given to
MingChi University of Technology, and the award of practicing ability is given to Tatung
University.
In the Asian Renowned Universities Creativity Invitation Contest, Japan team ｢A
Challenge to the Frontier of Surgical Simulator for Intravascular Neurosurgery｣ receives
the special attending award, and the first prize goes to ｢Happy Bike Design｣ by
[TATUNG BOY] of Da-Tong University. There are two second prizes: ｢Family ATM｣ by
｢Peak of the Top｣of Chung Shan Medical University, and ｢Magic Cube Interface for
Family Entertainment｣ by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering,
National University of Singapore. The third prizes are awarded to: ｢ENVIRONMENTAL
PROTECTION SINK CABINET｣ by ｢ST. JOHN'S MECHANIAN｣ of St. John's & St.
Mary's Institute of Technology, ｢Safe Home - Design of Non-Attached Infant Apnea
Monitor System｣ by ｢FREEHOPE｣ of Southern Taiwan University of Technology, and
｢Facial Expression Robot｣ by Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology
(KAIST).
