Abstract
In this paper, a new error concealment algorithm is proposed to repair damaged portions of the shape information and texture information. Based on the least squares estimation method, the proposed algorithm can find the most similar block to replace the damaged block without worrying about the rotation, movement, or some luminance change between two sequential images. From the experimental results, the proposed algorithm achieves better performance than previous works, especially in the case where the damaged portion includes the object edge. © 2002 IEEE.
