Abstract
The main purpose of this thesis is to study the vibration properties of an oscillating sieve, using the CAE software package I-DEAS, for computer-aided design and analysis. We used the I-DEAS simulation module to simulate the oscillating sieve, which is excited by two vibration motors.
In the study, analysis methods are divided into two parts-modal analysis and dynamic simulation analysis. The modal analysis used the finite element method by means of the I-DEAS simulation module. The reason for this is to obtain natural frequencies and mode shapes from the system. The dynamic simulation analysis includes four parameters: the force of vibration motors, the spring constant of rubber springs, the installed angle of vibration motors, and the installed position of vibration motors.
The results of the I-DEAS simulation analyses have found out the first eight natural frequencies and mode shapes. When the forces, together with the installed angles of vibration motors were increased, displacement and speed were increased. However, displacement and speed were decreased when the spring constants were increased. When the vibration motors were installed at their gravity center, oscillating performance was not optimal.
