Abstract
The study purposes to examine ROC's
foreign relations in the era of Presidnet Lee.
Three factors affect Taipei's performance in
the diplomatic arena. They are: (1) changes in
the international power structure; (2) Taipei's
diplomatic strategy; (3) Beijing's diplomatic
strategy.
The study specially focuses on the
process of changes in ROC's ties with other
countries from 1988 to 1997. The focus centers
around the following aspects:
(1) The evolution of the ROC's
diplomatic relations with other
countries in the era of President Lee.
(2) The evolution of the ROC's ties with
the countries who have diplomatic
relations with the PRC.
(3) The diplomatic rivalry between the
ROC and the PRC in the international
society.
The study analyzes ROC's relations with
other countries in terms of four indicators. All
data is constructed according to the official
record. Concerning the results and findings of
the study, please see the research report.
