Abstract
LTE-Advanced is a promising candidate for IMT-Advanced (International Mobile Telecommunication Advanced). It should support a wider bandwidth up to 100 MHz, and carrier aggregation has been studied as a major solution. The basic aggregation unit is called component carrier (CC). In our research, we investigate load imbalance problem in LTE-Advanced network, we consider that the network serve heterogeneous UEs with different Quality of Service (QoS)
requirements. Therefore, the influence of load imbalance is quite different. For those UEs with minimum rate requirements, it may cause UEs can not achieve their minimum rate requirements in heavy loaded BS, for others without minimum rate requirements, the throughput of boundary UEs may be degraded in heavy loaded BS. In our research, we take all the difference into account and formulate the problem as a multi-objective optimization problem. Then we propose our solution to solve the problem. Simulation results demonstrate that our solution can obviously improve the throughput of boundary UEs without rate requirements in heavy loaded BS.
