Effects of doping and structure on the electronic properties of Nd2CuO4

Abstract
We have calculated the electronic structure of Nd2CuO4 in the observed T' structure and also hypothetical T and T* structures with the LMTO-ASA band structure method. The effects of Ce and Sr dopings were studied by the supercell calculations. We find that the total density of states in the T, T' and T* structures of the undoped system are similar, although the weight of the non-planar O partial density of states shifts substancially in energy in the different structures. On Ce(Sr) doping, we have a rigid band like upwards (downwards) shift of the Fermi level. When Ce concentration x approaches 0.5 in Nd2-xCexCuO4, Ce d bands are found around the Fermi level. © 1989.
