Abstract
The peer-reviewed and highly regarded Journal of Nursing Research (JNR) is a main vehicle for sharing the research findings of nurses in Taiwan and an increasingly respected publishing platform for nurses worldwide. The JNR recognizes extraordinary and compassionate nurses for the care that they provide, so it is not surprising that a rapidly increasing number of nurses who are active in nursing education and patient care are submitting their work for publication in the JNR. This issue of JNR includes 9 studies that testify to how nurses around the globe are striving for excellence in teaching, in caring, and in advancing nursing science through research. Authors from the United States, Iran, Jordan, Turkey, and Taiwan share in this issue their scientific and insightful inquiries on falls and related injuries in hospitalized patients, the long-term homecare needs of patients with spinal cord injuries, mentoring nurse practitioners in a hospital setting, professional values and intent to leave among nurse managers, the lived experiences of midlife women with major depression, and the experiences of women with infertility. Precise hypothesis tests are also conducted on the effects of a simulation teaching method, the effects of health education on maternal anxiety, and the effectiveness of muscle relaxation techniques in mothers with preterm infants. We want to say “thank you” to all nurses who provide extraordinary care to improve individuals’ lives. In particular, we want to shine a light on these nurse scientists who have stepped forward to share their research findings, allowing nurses to better advocate for patients and provide the best possible care. Let us shine a light on nursing excellence and continue to advance care through research.
