Abstract
As we welcome a new year, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all contributors, authors, reviewers, and editors of the Journal of the Chinese Chemical Society (JCCS). Your dedication and support continue to shape the Journal's steady progress and ensure the high quality of the work we publish. Thank you for being an essential part of our community. The past year marked another period of growth and consolidation for JCCS. We published 10 regular issues and 2 special issues, presenting a diverse range of contemporary research and strengthening ties within the chemical community through conference-related collections. In 2025, we received more than 470 manuscript submissions from 48 countries: 7% from Taiwan, 35% from other regions in Asia, and the remainder from across the world. Our acceptance rate was 26%, with the support of 242 expert reviewers from 14 countries. According to the latest Journal Citation Reports, the Journal's impact factor is 1.5. To further enhance our publishing experience, we completed an upgrade of the manuscript submission and peer-review system in mid-2025. This transition has provided a more intuitive and efficient workflow for authors, reviewers, and editors. We are deeply grateful to our long-standing publishing partner, Wiley, for their guidance throughout this process. The selection for the 2025 Best Article Award is currently underway, with the winning papers to be announced in the February 2026 issue. In addition, the Highly Cited Paper Award recognizes impactful contributions published in 2024 (listed in Table 1). Each corresponding author will receive a certificate acknowledging their achievement and the influence of their work. The past year has reminded us of both the transformative potential of scientific innovation and the fragility of our world. Rapid advances in artificial intelligence are reshaping research methodologies, while the worsening climate crisis and ongoing global conflicts highlight urgent global challenges. As a foundational science, chemistry plays a pivotal role in addressing these issues; its strength is rooted not in immediacy, but in deep understanding, rigor, and insight. Entering its 73rd year, JCCS remains steadfast in its mission to provide a high-quality platform that supports meaningful discoveries and advances in all areas of chemical research. In the coming year, we will continue to pursue excellence by further elevating the quality and visibility of published papers, optimizing the peer-review process for fairness and timeliness, and enhancing publication management to provide a smooth and positive experience for authors and readers. We are also preparing a memorial issue in the second quarter to honor the enduring scientific legacy of Prof. Sunney I. Chan, whose contributions have had a profound impact on the field. Our regular issues will continue to feature cutting-edge work that engages our global readership and reflects the evolving landscape of the chemical sciences. None of our progress would be possible without the dedication of our community. I extend my sincere appreciation to our reviewers, editorial board members, authors, and readers for their unwavering support, thoughtful insights, and continued engagement. We look forward to another productive year filled with discoveries that push the frontiers of chemistry and broaden its impact on society. The author declares no conflicts of interest.
