Abstract
This paper presents the numerical analysis and synthesis of metallic reflectarray antennas to radiate multi-beams for the multi-sector coverage in wireless communications. The synthesis procedure is developed based on the concept of steepest descent method to optimize the phase variation of reflecting elements. In particular, closed-form formulations are obtained to update the phases in each iteration and completely avoid the cumbersome numerical summations of scattering fields. Numerical examples will be presented to demonstrate the concepts and validate the feasibility.
