A Study of Chinese Learning Magazine for Beginner

Abstract
Chinese learners who study Chinese abroad often face two difficult situations. First, they lack appropriate Chinese learning environments. The Chinese class is only few hours a week, which is not enough for learners to master a language. Second, it is hard for learners who learn Chinese abroad to find appropriate learning materials which fit their level. The aim of the study is to design a Chinese learning magazine which suits beginners. The merits of the Chinese learning magazine is that it is a monthly publication, so that it could keep providing learners abundant learning materials. Besides, the learning materials it provides are useful and adequate. The most important point is that Chinese learning magazine could make learners study on their own. The study would firstly find out what writing strategies should be applied in designing a self-learning material. Secondly, the study would analyze three popular English learning magazines and one Chinese learning magazine《Live Interactive Chinese》. By analyzing these language magazines, we could know the common ground that how these language learning magazine were designed. There are two features of Chinese learning magazine for beginners. First, the contents in the magazine are practical. The contents show every kind of typical communication wordings and new terms of nowadays, so that learners can learn both standard Chinese and latest Chinese. Second, in order to familiarize learners with the new contents, the new contents in Chinese learning magazine for beginners are arranged to continue to show in different units. We expect that learners learn Chinese on their own by the Chinese learning magazine. By learning from the Chinese learning magazine, learners could enhance their Chinese level.
