Abstract
Non-metric multiple dimensional
scaling (MDS) is used to evaluate the
temporal and spatial changes of community
structures of aquatic insects in Keelung River
and the influences on them from engineering
construction and the spate caused by
typhoons. The results indicated that there
were significant differences between
sampling sites and between seasons
(significance level <0.05). The mainly
influential environmental factors were water
temperatures and hardness. The other
factors varied in sections from upstream to
downstream. The shifts in community
structures caused by spates were greater than
engineer construction which contributed to
the longer instability. The changes in spatial
series were correspondent with River
Continuum Concept (RCC). Biotic indices
and parameters were significantly correlated
(p<0.05). In the study on the taxonomy of
Taiwan Lampyridae, species of Diaphanes
are revised as are several related species.
The taxonomy and phenology of Diaphanes
are discussed. Eight named species of
Pristolycus were also examined and depicted,
and the morphology and taxonomic
3
arrangement of the genus were discussed.
