Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to develop a biodegradable ceranic as bone substitute. Ca2P2O7 was chosen as the main constituent of the developed materials. Na4P2O7 *10H2O was added to the main constituent to produce intergranular liquid and promote the solid state sintering. The effects of Na4P2O7*10H2O additions on mechanical properties and physical properties were intestigated in the project. The results of subcutaneous implant and rabbit femur condyle implant were also described in the study. The mechanical strength intially increased with Na4 P2O7*10 H2O additions up to 5wt%, thereafter, showed the negative correlation. The results were in the terms of microstructures. grain size and 2nd phase of NaCa (PO3)3 existed in the material which were proven with XRD and SEM. The material showed a good compatibilty during the 2 weeks rat subcutaneous implant, and it were gradually replaeed by the surrounding nature bone after 3 months.#0563#
