Abstract
In the view of design management, the nearer the end of design process, the larger expense must be paid if one needs to change his design. Therefore, a good designer should make all-round consideration in planning phase to prevent changing design frequently while getting high product completeness.
As technologies of molding and mold manufacturing progress day by day, plastic products vary highly in styles. Recently plastic models are the most popular products since customers’ consumption capability advanced. Action figures (movable figures) are a branch of plastic models. The main points which make plastic models differ from other products are the key points affecting the sales such as theme, reality, and completeness. These are not considered or affected slightly while evaluating other products. However, many designers do not understand manufacture process and many problems occur during mass-production period. Taking action figures for example, this approach uses concepts of total design management and tries to take design and manufacture process of action figures as research subject and then present a design process to help designers proceed or iterate the process.
