Abstract
Background/Objective: In past, we thought of the treatments of psychotic symptoms for schizophrenic patients. While Taiwan became a developed country, psychiatrists and affiliated professionals start to take more attentions to social and vocational rehabilitation. Therefore, patients with mental illness could get the supported program for competitive employment according to the People with Disabilities Rights Protection Act along with other disabilities. Case report: We presented a case that got through the national examination for people with physical and mental disabilities, but unfortunately he has committed suicide at the government agency during his probation period. Conclusion: We argued that both the inadequacies of discriminative acts and inconsistent supported employment program may become the barriers for psychiatric patients to employment. Meanwhile it may subsequently increase the suicidal risk for people with mental illness. We expect to invite more studies and discussions.
