Abstract
Owing to lower manufacturing cost and better production technology, the Light-Emitting Diode (LED) takes place of traditional light source gradually. Because of saving energy and longer life, LEDs become the main lighting devices for our daily life. LED can be turned on and turned off in extremely short period, so the characteristic can meet the requirement of the visible light communication (VLC). Hence, in the field, more and more people invent new technology to improve the performance of visible light communication in order to make the VLC be a mature system like the Wi-Fi or the 4G LTE. The smart mobile devices are popular in recent years. Users can get devices at low prices, especially Android devices. People can do many things with smart mobile devices, such as communication, acquiring information, shopping, entertainment and so on. Because smart mobile devices are widespread, companies and research centers create many innovative applications. Besides smart phones and tablets, wearable devices, such as smart watches, are favorable for customers. Hence, smart devices play an important role in human’s daily life. Furthermore, in many science journal papers, most of researches in VLC field focus on the transmission rate by changing different modulations. The applications of VLC are rarely shown on science journal papers, so in the thesis a system that is based on the combination of VLC and smart mobile devices is constructed. The system uses simple but efficient structure and follows the habits of users when it transmits and receives data. By testing in some scenarios, the results that are gotten from the tests are helpful to optimize the system. The noises are reduced, so the data rate and the signal quality become better. Users also have good experience on the App of the system. In the future, the transmitter and receiver of the system will be integrated in a USB chip. Users needn’t learn how to use the system, because it is similar to use the USB equipment that people use recently. Hence, the system provides another option for data transmission besides Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth.
