Abstract
Object Movie (OM) is a set of images taken from different perspectives around a 3D object. Recently, the technique of the OM has widely applied to many areas, e.g., E-Commerce, digital Archive, Digital Museum, and etc. From the best of our knowledge, there has no method to help the user to obtain a high quality OM, i.e., the rotation center is the same as the center of the object when browsing the OM.
In this thesis, I develop a method to calibrate the motorized object rig. First I apply the CPC model to formulate the 3D configuration of the device, and then estimate the controllable axes of the device. Based on the estimation result, I provide a visual tool to help the user to adjust the orientations and positions of the axes. After calibration, the camera parameters that are more accurate can be obtained, and could be used to many applications. In this thesis, I use the parameters to reconstruct the 3D model of the 3D object from an OM, and then adjust the OM according to the center of the 3D model. So that I can obtain a high quality OM.
