Abstract
A fast charging method for large-size or high-resolution liquid crystal display is proposed by comparing data of adjacent rows.
The three scan lines are bundled in one set, and their charging time is rearranged so that the percharge phase is long enough. The difference between adjacent two rows and data-line delay are considered to generate the fine-tune voltage by using active charging method. The voltage level can be reached more precisely than conventional methods.
Charging time is a critical design parameter for large-size or high-resolution liquid crystal display (LCD). A fast charging method is proposed to generate adaptive charging voltages by comparing the pixel values between previous and current frames. Data line segmentation is also proposed to charge different subpixels on the data line precisely, which is implemented by operational amplifier and resistor network. The scan-line delay is considered in the data-line segmentation.
We propose a method to reduce the DAC gate count by sharing one DAC with multiple data lines using multiplexer and switches. The gate count can be reduced to about one third, which is significant, especially for high-resolution TV.
