Abstract
This study examined the relationships
between Antisocial Thinking habits and
Antisocial Personality Disorder symptoms,
and between Schizophrenic Thinking habits
and Schizophrenic Symptoms. Senior high
school and senior high vocational school
students, including males (N=298) and
females (N=315), were asked to answer eight
scales, including three kinds of thinking habit
scales such as antisocial, schizophrenic and
normal thinking habits. The stepwise
multiple correlation analyses were conducted
to find out which set of independent variables
is most able to account for the variance of the
two dependent variables respectively.
The results revealed that: when analyses
are conducted with raw scores,(1)four
independent variables, including the
experience of suffering from antisocial
personality disorder in the past, antisocial
thinking habits, life pressure, and
schizophrenic thinking disorder, are found
to form a set, which is able to account for
about 65.7% ( R=.84) of the total variance of
the antisocial personality disorder score, and
(2)three independent variables, including the
experience of suffering from schizophrenic
disorder in the past, schizophrenic thinking
habits and normal thinking habits, are found
to form a set, which is able to account for
about 57.4%( R=.76) of the total variance of
the schizophrenic disorder score. The result
of further analyses with the factor scores of
independent variables revealed that: (3)14
independent factor scores are found to form a
set, which is able to account for 77.2%
( R=.879) of the total variance of the
antisocial personality disorder score, and
(4)12 independent factor scores, combined as
a set , is able to account for 67.8%( R=.823)
of the total variance of the schizophrenic
disorder score.
The results are further interpreted in
more general forms as the followings : (1)
the Ko’s mental health formula is still valid
for organizing information about Antisocial
Personality disorder, and also quite valid for
the information about the schizophrenic
3
disorder, (2) the factor scores of independent
variables of the present study are very useful
for understanding and predicting the
antisocial personality disorder and the
schizophrenic disorder, especially so for the
former.
