Abstract
This thesis proposes a new seat mechanism design to assist disabled people getting on and off welfare vehicles. The seat mechanism, designed by means of parametric design and analysis, has capabilities of rotating, lifting, and separating/joining. The two-way-seat can be fastened in the car as a vehicle seat, or separates from the mechanism as a wheelchair. The linkages of four wheels of the two-way-seat can be moved to the storage position such that space occupation inside the vehicle can be reduced. In addition, an integrated parametrical program is developed for establishing the seat model, analyzing the motion trajectory, and finding the service loads under any motion position. With the developed program, performances of the seat mechanism can be evaluated, and the redesign procedure can be accelerated such that the seat mechanism can be fit to different vehicle more easily.
