Abstract
The present study aims to investigate Schizophyllan(SPG), a β-glucan polymer from Schizophyllum commune, efficacy on the activation of immune cells as well as antitumor activity on mice at various delivery frequency levels by oral route. The results on the obserivation of efficacy of immune-enhancement in mice v.s Schizophyllan concentrations show that 0.3 % SPG solution in the optimal concentration for the experiment. It is therefore this concentration is used for the further study to investigate the most effective frequency for three groups of mice administrated with 0.3 % SPG at daily, two or three days interval in one week. The cytotoxicity, cell proliferation of splenic mononucleus cell and concentration of IL-12, IFN-γ in serum for the mice was observed. The results shows that daily administration of 0.3 % SPG for one week is superior then those received with the same dose by 2 days/once or 3 days/once on the enhancement of cytotoxicity activity and increases of splenic mononucleus cell proliferation of experiment mice. However, the highest IL-12 and IFN-γ in serum was observed in those mice received with Schizophyllan at 2 days/once group. In the obserivation of tumor supression, oral administration of Schizophyllan daily or 2 days/once at an experimental intervals, shows daily gave a better results. It is also shows that Schizophyllan signification enhanced cytotoxicity, cell proliferation and cytokine level than control. Considerind all these results, it suggested that oral Schizophyllan at 0.3 %, daily promoted better immunomodulation and antitumor activity.
