Abstract
Discontinuously movable mechanisms (DMM) are special mechanisms with two or more working modes. There are various reasons for such mechanisms to have these characteristics; therefore, definitions and methods of synthesis of DMMs depend on their categories. Because of different definitions of DMMs and unclear synthesis method of some kinds of DMMs, the purpose of this work is to systematically classify DMMs and develope the method of synthesis of DMMs.
In order to find out the motion of the mechanisms quickly, this study analyzes and synthesizes DMMs using Lie group theorem. Firstly, this paper presents the classification of DMMs accorfing to their special characteristics. Then, one class of DMMs is analysed in this thesis. Thirdly, a synthesis process of such DMMs is developed and four types of DMMs are investigated and synthesized. Finally, a CAD software is used to moodel the resulting mechanisms and validates the motion of the mechanisms.
