Abstract
Abstract A series of star-shaped polyurethanes were synthesized by the use of fullerenol-derived polyols as the anchoring agents and were characterized by both spectrometric and gel permeation chromatographic techniques. Under similar reaction conditions, the number of attached linear polyurethane arms per C60 decreased as the molecular weight of each isocyanated polymer arm precursor increased. Interestingly, the polydispersity of all star-shaped polyurethanes synthesized was found to be much narrower than that of the corresponding parent arms, independent of the linking efficiency.
