Abstract
This project focuses on the legal consciousness of the people and the states in
four East-Asian countries: Japan, South Korea, China, and Taiwan. These four 2
countries are all deeply influenced by Confuciousnism with different developing
stages of political, economic, and legal changes. This project explores their social-polical
backgrounds for legal reform and then deals with specific cases such as
environmental pollution, feminism, and labor-management disputes to indentify the
people's and the states' legal conciousness in these countries.
