Abstract
How to rescue Japan from economic deterioration? Attracting inward FDI into Japan, which is used to be extremely low compared with outward FDI, is a key success factor for Japan's economic recovery. Beginning from introducing Dunning's eclectic paradigm and investment development path, my thesis focuses on an analysis of Japan's four industries, which are low barrier entries and many foreign companies extend their competitive advantages to Japan's indigenous firms. Those companies are Wal-Mart (US) and Seiyu in retail industry, Starbucks Coffee Internaitonal (US) and Sazaby in take-out food industry, 999 Group (China) and Toa Pharmaceutical in pharmaceutical industry and Ripplewood Holdings and Starwood Hotel & Resort Worldwide, Troon Golf (US) and Phoenix Seagaia Resort in hotel industry. Lastly, an analysis of four case studies of OLI variables is listed.
