Abstract
To date, more high resolution animated models are required to present important details and fine structures, however, sometimes such high resolution models are unnecessary and undesired, e.g. while we want preview an animated model to decide if we want download it, we may not need to download the finest one to preview. Interactive systems, for another example, sometimes use low resolution models to obtain better performance.
Though there are many well-known algorithms dealing well on simplifying meshes, they are limited to static models. In general, simplification methods are based on error-approximation on a model in a single pose. This makes a good simplified model in neutral pose; however, it may destroy some feature parts of the model in other poses.
In this paper, we propose an automatic technique to simplify animated models which takes features of every deformed model into account and preserves geometry details of them. We will also compare the results of this method to results of other methods.
