Abstract
In the past few years, many initiatives
have been started to develop e-business
information infrastructure in domestic
industries, most manufacturing enterprises are
expected to have an upgraded supply chain
and manufacturing management infrastructure
in a few years. Owning particular planning or
management software will not bestow a
company competitive advantage. The driver of
competitiveness will shift to decision quality
in the upgraded infrastructure environment.
This project proposes to develop decision
quality enablers in the areas of factory master
scheduling, supply chain planning, capacity
planning and demand allocation in
semiconductor supply network. There are three
thrust areas of research: constraint modeling
and reasoning, material and capacity allocation,
and decision service provision.
Enablers for conflict resolution of
constraints will be developed to enhance the
optimization capability of planning and
scheduling systems. Methods for material and
capacity allocation will be developed. Finally,
to facilitate distributed decision-making in the
supply network, a mechanism will be
developed for projecting the enablers as a
service. Semiconductor manufacturing supply
network will be used as a research carrier for
its richness in problem variety and interaction
and its importance to national economy. The
expected results of this project will be enablers
or software agents for conflict resolution,
constraint propagation, capacity and material
allocation, and decision service provision.
